Welcome to the GCARES home page.

March 17- 23 is Ohio Spring Severe Weather Awareness Week. Part of the activity for week a tornado drill scheduled for 9:50 a.m. on March 20. If you live in an area that has warning sirens expect to hear them Wednesday. The Greene County XWARN weather net will be activated during the drill. If you are available at the time, are asked to check in. It is important to know how many people are available during the work day and how well they can hit the repeater from their locations.

Interested in being involved in emergency communication? If you are a licensed amateur radio operator consider joining the Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES). Go to the ARES Connect information page and follow the instructions to register. If you are already a member of ARES but not yet registered on ARES Connect please do so. Click for ARES Connect Information. If you have an event such as a race or parade that you would like listed the calendar contact the WebMaster. If you would like it listed on ARES Connect contact our
AEC for Events.

License Classes are being offered. If you are not yet licensed but want to have a way to communicate when normal systems are down or overloaded, or just want to join to have an interesting pastime activity, check out our Spring license class schedule. Click here for details.

What is GCARES?

GCARES is a group of amateur radio operators dedicated to being prepared to provide emergency communications if the need should arrive. For more information on who we are, what we do or how to join click on one of the links on the left or below.
We meet at 7:30 p.m. the last Monday of some months. See the calendar for specific information.
