Air Force Marathon
The Air Force Marathon is scheduled for Saturday, September 18, 2021. Many volunteers are needed! Volunteers can begin registering on May 1, 2021. For a detailed list of Public Service events, see the District 3 website.

Storm Spotter Training
National Weather Service classes will be conducted as live webinars with live Q&A. We will use the GoToWebinar software, which can host up to 1000 people for each session. These webinars will not be recorded. 6 webinars are currently planned in February and March, with different days of the week and diverse times represented. If the demand is high enough, we may consider a 7th webinar in April. All those who attend will need to register in advance. Click here for dates and registration.

Congratulations to the New Hams!
Congratulations to the news hams who passed the license exam recently! Everyone who took the Zoom license training class and took the exam passed it. Looking forward to hearing you on the air!

Covid-19 Update
The Greene County EMA Director has indicated that there is no need at the current time for Emergency Communication assistance. However, she indicated that she would request GCARES assistance if needed as the situation develops. A HyperReach alert will be sent if GCARES help is needed.

New GCARES EC Named
Congratulations to Elizabeth Klinc, KE8FMJ, being named the new GCARES Emergency Coordinator! And many thanks to Henry Ruminski, W8HJR, who steps down after serving as EC since 2017. Appointment was effective September 8, 2020.

GCARES Nets Moving

Please be sure to add the GCARES 440 repeater to your radios! 442.7250(+) (no tone). The voice and digital training nets will remain on the GCARES 146.910(-) (no tone) repeater on all other Tuesdays of each month. The GCARES Voice Net Starts at 9 p.m. every Tuesday. It is followed by the Digital Training Net.
